The help desk assists patrons with the library’s computers, copiers, printers, and Internet. Those who work at the helpdesk seek to teach patrons basic computer skills and facilitate the use of the library’s resources.

All public Internet computers require user login. These include all Internet stations at the Computer Center (including two iMac stations), Computer Lab, Adult Services Reference Table, Business and Investment Table, Local History Table, Teen Room, and Youth Services.

The computer lab offers patrons a space to enjoy the library’s various computer classes. The lab provides patrons with all the equipment they need for any class and a quiet environment in which to learn.

As of April 1, 2010, due to high demand, study rooms are available to Bloomfield Township residents with a valid Library card only.

The black and white copiers offer paper sizes:

  • 8.5 x 11, and 8.5 x 14, at 15 cents per page
  • 11 x 17 size paper are 20 cents per page

Color copies are 50 cents per page and are limited to 8.5 x 11 paper.

1. Purchase a “Copy Card” from the copy center or the computer center. The initial cost of the card is $1.00 (.50 cents for the actual card and .50 cents will be your starting balance on the card). Keep these cards for future use. They are rechargeable if you insert the card back into the machine and add more money.

Wireless Internet Access

2. Open your web browser and load a webpage.
3. Read and accept the library’s Internet Use Policy.

MetroNet

Effective April 1, 2010, MetroNet dial-up internet service will be discontinued.

Our public fax machine powered by Fax24 is located in the Computer Center. This is a self service fax machine to send a fax only.  Visa, MC, AMEX, and Discover credit cards are accepted for payment of this service.

The Early Literacy Stations in the Youth Department are filled with educational games for children ages 2-10. These games span more than seven curricular areas, such as arithmetic and spelling.
