A Library Trustee recognizes the importance of the Library in the community and oversees the funding of all aspects of Library services including traditional media and computer technologies. Library Trustees support freedom of information and the American Library Association Bill of Rights, which includes providing information presenting all points of view to all people of the community. A Library Trustee sets policy, hires the Library Director, and approves the budget to provide the very best service the Library can offer the Bloomfield Township community.
The Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library is a group of people who believe that any community is a better place to live if it has a first-rate library. The Friends have an active role in supporting and promoting the Bloomfield Township Public Library. This avid and enthusiastic group of volunteers dedicates their time, talent and resources to raising funds to support the Library beyond its operating budget. A 501(c)3 organization, the Friends raise funds through their monthly Super Second Saturday Sales, book sales in the Library Shop, donations and memberships in the Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library.
