LEGOs – Construct a Masterpiece!
Bloomfield Township Public Library’s Lego Club meets monthly. Children ages 6 and up are invited to drop in, listen to a story and build a Lego creation based on the theme. This is a great opportunity for Dads, Uncles and Grandpas to get involved with their young ones at the library – and of course Moms, Aunts and Grandmas are welcome as well! All creations are displayed in the youth room for the remainder of the month. Participants are asked not to bring any of their own Lego pieces to this program, they only need to supply their imagination! The next Lego Program will be Saturday, May 11 at 11:00am. The theme is Flying Machines! Remember you can always look at our upcoming programs online at www.btpl.org.

Meet the Librarian - Miss Liz
My name is Liz Conger and I am one of the Youth Services Librarians. Before I was a Librarian here at Bloomfield Township Public Library, I was one of the Interns at the Media Desk.I moved to the Youth Room in summer 2010 and love working more directly with kids. In fact, story times are my favorite part of the job!I like to listen to audiobooks and music during my commute to work and when I’m home I like to play with my kitty, Lola.I read a wide variety of books, but am especially fond of picture books with animals. When I’m not at work, I might be traveling and am currently planning a 12-day honeymoon to Ireland in August.
Miss Liz Recommends
Here are a few titles featuring some memorable animals, as we welcome back springtime at the library:
Rabbityness by Jo Empson (E EMP) is the vividly colorful story of a unique rabbit who loves art and music, inspiring other rabbits even after he’s gone. Youngsters who love color, mess, and vibrancy will find common ground in this book.
C. R. Mudgeon by Leslie Muir (E MUI) is the tale of a quiet hedgehog who loves his routine, and what happens when a new noisy neighbor moves in next door. Kids and adults will both learn a lesson on living with all different kinds of people.
Frankenweenie (CHILD DVD FRA) is the movie of young Victor who conducts a science experiment to bring his dog, Sparky, back to life – with some interesting consequences. Tim Burton directed this eerie yet heartfelt tale.
