The Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library will hold their annual dinner on Friday, May 7, at 6:00pm at the Library. The featured speaker is Bloomfield Township resident, graphic artist and World War II Veteran Jack Keenan. Jack sketched details of a soldier’s life throughout World War II. These sketches extend through several battles in Europe. Many of these sketches have been placed in the special war collection at the University of Michigan. Jack Keenan also was part of Keith Famie’s new World War II documentary film, “Detroit, Our Greatest Generation”.
For ten summers, Jack and his wife Ellen, parents of ten children and dedicated community leaders, painted coordinating themes on the Youth Room windows at the Bloomfield Township Public Library. Renderings of his painting are on display in the Library.
Jack will recount fascinating stories about what he witnessed in his four and ½ years of services at the Annual Dinner for Friends of Bloomfield Township Public Library only.
