Titanic Discovered 27 years ago! |
On September 1, 1985, Dr. Robert Ballard and his crew discovered the final resting place of the Titanic. The luxury liner was resting on the ocean floor 12,500 feet down - about 350 miles southeast from Newfoundland, Canada. In July, 1986, Ballard returned in an expedition aboard the Atlantis II to explore the ship with underwater robots. Two bronze memorial plaques were left on the deck. The Henry Ford Museum will be wrapping up their Titanic Exhibit on September 30, 2012. If you have not yet stopped by, plan a visit it this fascinating exhibit soon. The Library also has a great collection of books and DVDs on the Titanic as well.

Optelec Spectrum Closed Circuit Television |
Did you know that the Library has an Optelec Spectrum Closed Circuit Television? This CCTV is used for enlarging print on any document. For those with different types of eye problems, the font color may be changed for easier reading. Even if you don't need to use this equipment due to an eye problem, the machine is great for old documents with fine writing and identifiying marks on collectibles and heirlooms. Stop by the Adult Services Desk and ask to see this wonderful asset, located in the Local History Room.
