The Bloomfield Township Public Library announces a vacancy on its Library Board of Trustees. Library Board President Judy Lindstrom announced the resignation of Trustee Lyle Dahlberg at the May 17, 2011 Board meeting. Lyle stated that “My resignation comes because I must honor my commitments to my employer. I have enjoyed my time of service and heartily endorse the actions of the Board during my tenure. The Trustees have a true gem in their care and I know they will continue to make it sparkle."
The Library Board of Trustees wishes to thank Lyle Dahlberg for his service to our Library and community. Mr. Dahlberg joined the Library Board in March, 2010. We appreciate his many contributions working on the Development Committee, Bloomfield Hills Liaison Committee and the Cranbrook Liaison Committee. We wish Lyle the best in his new endeavors.
A Library Trustee recognizes the importance of the Library in the community and oversees the funding of all aspects of library services including traditional media and computer technologies. Trustees attend monthly meetings held on Tuesdays of each month at 7:00pm. Each Trustee serves on several committees and is encouraged to be an active participant in Library activities. The role of a Library Trustee is both challenging and rewarding.

It has been a very long winter but Spring is just days away. How do we know? Spring equinox falls on March 21 each year. And, at the Bloomfield Township Public Library, our very own sun calendar shows us this is so in the Library lobby. Throughout the year, there are significant variations in the patterns that the sun makes on the lobby floor. Our library lobby is an ideal location for viewing the change of the sun through the seasons of the year. In this way, the Library has constructed its own sun calendar much as ancient man did in many places in the world.
Bloomfield Township resident John F. Marshall explains the theory and calculations used for our sun calendar on the attached booklet.
