B.A. Shapiro is an academic and writer. She was born in 1951 and earned her doctorate in sociology, teaching at Tufts University. She also directed research projects for a residential substance abuse facility, worked as a systems analyst/statistician, and headed the Boston office of a software development firm. In recent years, Shapiro has lectured in creative writing at Northeastern University. She has published 5 previous suspense novels under the name Barbara Shapiro between 1993 and 2002, but The Art Forger is her first serious work of fiction.
