Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service is designated to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. Below are a few of the many local volunteer opportunities available if you’re looking for somewhere to help.

The Birmingham Museum

The history and heritage of the Bloomfield area are promoted. Volunteers are involved in membership development and Board positions, when available.

The Community House

The Community House is offering classes, events, and award-winning childcare programs. Volunteers assist with classes.

Johnson Nature Center

BBCC works building awareness and mobilizing the community to prevent the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs with a focus on youth. Volunteers can become involved as sponsors or help at programs and events.

Oakland Literacy Council

Trained tutors provide assistance to adults in Oakland County who struggle to read, write and understand English. Volunteer tutors meet two hours a week with their students for at least one year.
