On Demand Video: Virtual Read-Aloud with Emily

October 28, 2021

An oil painting of the two authors is shown on the left, and a color image of the reader is shown on the right.

Better known collectively as the Brothers Grimm, Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm (1785–1863) and Wilhelm Carl Grimm (1786–1859) were German academics and authors who collected fairy tales and folktales across Europe during the 19th Century. Their work produced what is arguably the most enduring collection of oral storytelling narratives that has ever been published. “The Grave-Mound” tells the story of a reluctant farmer’s promise to guard the grave of his rich neighbor for three nights, and the fearsome figures he encounters during his watch.
