Missy Carmichael is about to turn 80. She lives in the big empty home she once shared with her husband and children. Now, her husband is gone, her son and his family live in Australia, and she is estranged from her daughter. Missy is set in her ways, asocial, and somewhat depressed.
In an attempt to have something interesting to email her son, Missy attends an event at a nearby park where she meets some interesting characters who (very slowly) change the way she thinks of herself and set her on a different path.
Missy is hard to like in the beginning but, through flashbacks, she becomes more relatable. This endearing book is ultimately about new friendships, personal growth, and relationships between parents and grown children. Keep the tissues handy.View in Catalog
