The silent patient of the title is Alicia Berenson. She is in a secure mental care facility and has refused to speak since the police arrived after he was shot five times in the face. Theo Faber is a psychotherapist who is convinced he can help Alicia. Years after Alicia is convicted of her husband’s murder and sent to the Grove, Theo is finally able to get a job there. In an effort to get her to talk, he begins to unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband and it leads him down a twisting path that involves exploring his own motivations.
This psychological thriller is definitely a slow burn but the twist at the end made me gasp out loud to myself. Not only is it a good mystery that kept me guessing throughout, the author’s knowledge and attention to detail really show in this novel. ShaynaView in Catalog
