When a young Japanese-American girl and her family are forced to relocate to a Japanese internment camp in the midst of World War II, the girl must say goodbye to her old life including her beloved dog, Yujiin. As the family struggles to deal with their harsh new life, Manami hopes to one day be reunited with the dog she loves and to feel freedom again. A great historical fiction read, especially for dog lovers, ages 9 and up.
