Twelve-year-old Catherine has spent a lot of time coming up with a list of rules for her autistic brother David to follow to help him act “normal”. Despite all of her rules and reminders to David, Catherine is still embarrassed when he acts out. However, when Catherine begins two new friendships over the summer, one with a girl that moves in next door and one with a paraplegic who she meets at David’s occupational therapy clinic, she starts to wonder what “normal” really means.
