Reading is its own (rich!) reward, but when our midwestern weather warms, Bloomfield Township Public Library joins libraries across the nation to uphold the longstanding tradition of summer reading programs.
Tracing all the way back to 1896, library summer reading programs were originally created to help schoolchildren retain academic gains over the long summer break. Today’s reading programs are designed for all ages and are highlighted by enriching events and hands-on activities that bring the community together.
So, join your neighbors: Be part of this year’s Color Our World Summer Reading Challenge! Here’s what you need to know:
- Beginning Tuesday, June 17, sign up at btpl.org/summer or at the library’s Adult & Teen Services desk or Youth Services desk
- Track your reading and activities in the user-friendly Beanstack app to earn badges
- Complete the challenge by Friday, August 8, for a chance to win prizes*!
Here’s to a summer of fun, color, connection, and expanded horizons!
*All are welcome to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge but only Bloomfield Township residents are eligible to win prizes.
