  • State of Michigan 1040 forms and instructions booklets are available for pickup.
  • Federal 1040 and 1040-SR forms and instruction booklets are available for pickup.
  • Federal and state tax forms are available online and you may request them to be printed at the Adult & Teen Services desk at the library.
  • All AARP Tax Aide appointments have been reserved.

Library desk staff cannot answer questions or give advice regarding taxes or tax preparation, nor can staff recommend tax preparers.

IRS / Internal Revenue Service

The IRS help page includes information on where to get help online, by phone, or in person.

AARP Tax Aide Help Line

If you are age 60 or older and have a question regarding your taxes, leave a message on the AARP Tax Aide line at 248-592-7418; a volunteer will get back to you.


Free Online Tax Preparation

The IRS offers free online tools to prepare and file your federal tax return.

  • IRS Free File: An online tool that will guide you through filling out your tax return. Only for taxpayers whose adjusted gross income (AGI) is $84,000 or less.
  • IRS Free Fillable Forms: Prepare and file your taxes online; follow IRS instructions and fill out the forms on your own.
