What is Kanopy?
Kanopy is a collection of on-demand streaming films, with a focus on thoughtful entertainment.
Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, world cinema, award-winning television programs, and The Great Courses. Kanopy Kids features read-alongs, storybooks, and selected PBS Kids programs.
Cardholders receive 48 tickets total per calendar month, which can be applied to borrowing content according to the ticketing guide below.
Getting Started
- Visit btpl.kanopy.com or install the free Kanopy mobile app from your device’s app store. To see if a specific operating system, browser, television, or device is compatible, visit kanopy.com.
- Create an account by providing your name, a valid email address, and choosing a password or you may choose to login with your existing Facebook or Google account. If you sign up with your email address, you will be sent a verification email to your email address.
- Next, add your Bloomfield Township library card and PIN. You may be prompted to search for the Library first.
Finding Content
- Select from films highlighted on the home page.
- Search for a specific title using the search box at the top of the site or by tapping the magnifying glass at the bottom of the app.
- Browse by subject areas by selecting BROWSE at the top of the site or at the bottom of the app.
Ticketing Guide
Movies and Documentaries
- Major Studio: 4 tickets, 2-day checkout
- Other Studios: 2 tickets, 2-day checkout
- Shorts (30 minutes or less): 1 ticket, 2-day checkout
Episodic Content (by season viewing time)
- Less than 1 hour: 1 ticket, 3-day checkout
- 1–2 hours: 2 tickets, 3-day checkout
- 2–4 hours: 3 tickets, 3-day checkout
- 4–6 hours: 4 tickets, 5-day checkout
- 6–10 hours: 5 tickets, 5-day checkout
- 10+ hours: 5 tickets, 7-day checkout
