BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY AND BLOOMFIELD HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO HOST HISTORY HARVEST AND PRESENTATION
March 24, 2025
Bloomfield Township Public Library and Bloomfield Historical Society will host a History Harvest on Sunday, April 6, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. to help collect and preserve local history. This is a unique opportunity for the public to donate items to the preservation of Bloomfield community history while receiving expert insights from our librarians. Items of particular interest include local yearbooks, photographs, postcards, telephone directories, and local publications. Members of the Bloomfield Historical Society will also be onsite to assist with research questions.
Following the History Harvest, from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Oakland County Parks Historian Carol Bacak-Egbo will present If Only a House Had a Birth Certificate: Tracing the History of a House. This intriguing presentation will guide you through the detective work involved in uncovering your home’s history from architectural clues and construction features to historical records, maps, and more.
“Twenty years ago, when the Bloomfield Historical Society was formed, we found that we shared a common mission with the Library’s local history collection to conserve our heritage. The Library encouraged our partnership and we continue to volunteer time and knowledge of the history of the Bloomfield area to help build this important collection,” said Pam Carmichael, Director and Past President of Bloomfield Historical Society.
All are welcome; no registration required.
