FRIENDS OF BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER BOOK SALE

The Friends of Bloomfield Township Public Library will hold their Second Saturday Book Sale Saturday, November 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friends members may shop the sale early from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and memberships can be purchased at the door on the day of the sale.
The sale takes place on the lower level of the Library and includes thousands of books and audiovisual materials for all ages and interests, conveniently sorted into more than 50 categories. Features of this sale will focus on end-of-year holidays and gift giving! Holiday and winter puzzles, books, music, and DVDs will be highlighted.
The sale always includes a wide array of subjects, and a room dedicated to music and film. Debit cards can be used for any amount, and credit card purchases may be used with a $5 minimum purchase.
The Library Shop, located just inside the Library, is open during Library hours, and offers a selection of gently used books, movies, and music, as well as cards and gifts. The Friends continue to accept donations of books and media in good condition. Visit the Friends of the Library webpage for more information.
Since 1995, purchases made at the Second Saturday Sales have allowed the Friends to donate over $1.85 million dollars to support the Library beyond their operating budget, donating over $105,000 last year alone. Donations have paid for artwork and sculptures around the Library, the beautiful gardens, programs and events for adults and children, and additions to Library collections.
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY CELEBRATES NATIONAL FRIENDS OF LIBRARIES WEEK

Bloomfield Township Public Library is proud to recognize the Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library during the 20th annual National Friends of Libraries Week, observed October 19–25. This nationwide celebration, coordinated by United for Libraries, a division of the American Library Association, honors the dedication and support of Friends groups across the country.
For over 60 years, the Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library have believed that every community is better when it has a first-rate library. This dedicated group of volunteers actively supports and promotes the Library by contributing their time, talent, and resources. Through their efforts, the Friends have raised over $1.85 million to enhance programs, collections, and spaces beyond the Library’s operating budget.
“We are grateful to the Friends of the Library for their ongoing commitment and generosity. Their unwavering support helps the Library continue to thrive and grow as a vibrant place for learning, connection, and community,” said Library Director Tera Moon.
Anyone can become part of the Friends of the Bloomfield Library by picking up a membership form at the Welcome Desk, in the Library Shop, at the monthly Second Saturday Sales, or downloading the form from our website. Members enjoy early admission to the Second Saturday Sales, starting at 10 a.m. The Friends can also be supported through tax-deductible donations of gently used books, CDs, DVDs, games, and puzzles.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY ANNOUNCES OCTOBER CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT

Bloomfield Township Public Library and the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance are pleased to announce their first chamber music concert of the season which will be held Friday, October 17 at 7 p.m. Program details will be available from the Library closer to the concert date. Other dates in the series are:
- Friday, February 20, 2026 at 7 p.m.
- Friday, March 13, 2026 at 7 p.m.
- Friday, April 17, 2026 at 7 p.m.
All ages are welcome; however, we ask that guests be mindful that these concerts are intended for a thoughtful and attentive audience. No registration required. We invite you to join us for a beautiful evening of music in the Library.

Bloomfield Township Public Library will host a variety of events for their Hallow-“Month” of October. Two adult events include:
Author Event with Rod Sadler, Grim Paradise: The Cold Case Search for the Mackinac Island Killer
October 9, 2025, 7:00pm – 8:30pm
Delve into the secrets of one of Michigan’s most perplexing murder cases as retired police officer Rod Sadler offers an in-depth and suspenseful account of the long-standing mystery. Sadler will discuss if advanced DNA technology could lead to the identity of the Mackinac Island murderer. Registration is required.
The History of Horror with Greg Black
October 14, 2025, 7:00pm – 8:30pm
Join local film enthusiast and video producer Greg Black as he presents an overview of the history of horror films from 1896 to the present day. Registration is required.
