BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY TO HOST “GONE WITH THE WIND” LECTURE

Bloomfield Township Public Library is pleased to welcome lecturer Kathleen Marcaccio on Thursday, April 3 at 7 p.m. as she presents a captivating presentation that delves into the enduring legacy of “Gone with the Wind”, one of the most iconic novels and films of the 20th century. With over 30 years of experience in presenting talks on the subject, Marcaccio brings her deep expertise and passion for this literary and cinematic masterpiece to the Library.

In her lecture, Marcaccio will provide a comprehensive overview of “Gone with the Wind”, touching on its origins, including author Margaret Mitchell’s journey to writing the novel, its path to publication, and its meteoric rise to becoming a bestseller. The discussion will also explore how legendary Hollywood producer David O. Selznick acquired the film rights and turned the story into a cinematic phenomenon, forever shaping the landscape of American film. The lecture will further explore the reception of “Gone with the Wind” by local audiences at the time, and Marcaccio will bring a selection of vintage “Gone with the Wind” memorabilia to share with the audience, available for viewing half an hour before the presentation begins.
