BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY TO PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN READ-IN WATCH PARTY FEATURING AUTHOR KWAME ALEXANDER

Bloomfield Township Public Library is pleased to participate in the virtual 2026 African American Read-In, featuring author Kwame Alexander for Might in Our Stories on Thursday, February 26 at 6 p.m.

All ages are invited to the Library to watch a live-streamed broadcast of this virtual Oakland Schools event celebrating the 2026 African American Read-In. Hear an inspiring message about the importance of storytelling from acclaimed author Kwame Alexander, a No. 1 New York Times bestselling writer of more than 45 books, including the Newbery Medal–winning “The Crossover”, also adapted into an Emmy® Award–winning Disney+ series. Alexander is an award-winning literacy advocate and founder of the One Word at a Time nonprofit.

Established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English, the African American Read-In makes literacy a significant part of Black History Month and has reached more than 6 million participants worldwide, focusing readers on the works of African American writers.
