With the passage of the autumnal equinox, fall is officially upon us. The coziness of this season of sweaters and warm drinks makes it the perfect time to fall in love with reading. Whether you’re falling in love for the first time or rekindling the flame, the Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library Second Saturday Sale is an excellent and easy way to fall in love with reading this fall.
The monthly sale offers books and audiovisual materials organized into more than 50 categories, including a room dedicated to music and film. Whether you’re looking for something to read that is fun, factual, or frightening (it is almost Halloween after all), the Second Saturday Sale is an excellent resource for both popular and rarer finds.
Hosted on the lower level of the Bloomfield Township Public Library, the walk-in sale can be shopped on Saturday, October 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Debit cards may be used for purchases of any amount. Credit cards may be used with a $5 minimum purchase. Those who are Friends of the Library members may shop the sale early that day from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friends membership can be purchased at the door on the day of the sale.
In addition to the Second Saturday Sale, a selection of gently used books, movies, and music, as well as cards and gifts, is always available during regular Library hours in the Library Shop located just to the left of the Library’s main entrance.
Since 1995, proceeds from the Second Saturday Sales have allowed the Friends to donate over $1.95 million to support the Library beyond its operating budget. Donations from sale proceeds have paid for artwork and sculptures around the Library, the beautiful gardens, programs and events for adults and children, and additions to Library collections.
Both the Second Saturday Sale and the Library Shop are made possible through book donations from the community. Donations are accepted by the Friends year-round. Visit the Friends of the Library webpage for more information.
