Nyxia series / Scott Reintgen

Nyxia is the first in a series titled The Nyxia Triad: 1)Nyxia, 2)Nyxia Uprising, & 3)Nyxia Unleashed. The plot follows 15-year-old Emmett Atwater, who is hired by a large corporation called Babel Communications, to compete against other teenagers for a spot on a mission to travel to a new planet, Eden. There, they are to mine a highly profitable substance called nyxia.

Babel has offered the 10 competitors $150,000 a month in perpetuity to participate in the mission. The catch is that only eight of the competitors will be selected for the final mission, based on a months-long competition to be held while they travel to Eden. In the meantime, Babel will provide financial resources and medical care to the competitors’ families. Emmett’s mother has kidney disease, and Emmett is committed to winning the prize for her.

Aboard the spaceship, named Genesis 11, Emmett meets the eight other challengers and he forms an alliance with Kaya. However, when the Genesis 11 finally arrives at the Tower Space Station above Eden, the competitors learn that there is a second group of teenagers on another spaceship, Genesis 12, who have also been training for the mission, and only 15 of the 20 competitors will earn a spot to Eden.

One thing is quickly becoming clear: Babel’s ship is full of secrets. And Emmett will face the ultimate choice: win the fortune at any cost, or find a way to fight that won’t forever compromise what it means to be human.
