The first in a new series of posts in which Youth Services mascot Ted E. Bear brings you updates on the library’s renovation project!
Hi, library friends! I hope you all found something fun to do during the time our building was closed! We definitely stayed busy here in the library. It was really cool to see the workers moving entire bookshelves around with the books still on them.
If you haven’t been in to see us yet, prepare to be amazed! All of the books, movies, and kits from the children’s area are now right in the middle of the grownups’ side of the building! It’s like a big maze! Even the librarians are still getting used to finding books in their new places, but they’re working very hard because they love showing you great things to read. You can always ask them for help!
It’s been kind of loud in here at times. Some walls are getting knocked down, but others are going up. Some are temporary and not very pretty, but guess what? YOUR Tiny Art projects are decorating some of them—so even kids are helping us make the library better, too!
Next time you visit, make sure to peek through the Youth Services windows. The carpet is gone, and it sure looks strange to be able to see all the way across the room. Who knew it was such a big space?!
Stop in and see us soon! Things might be jumbled up and you might hear a lot of hammering, but the librarians told me they miss you and can’t wait to see you again. Fun bonus: you might even get to make new librarian friends at our Shared Services desk!
Don’t forget! During the month of October, you’ll see a big blue mailbox at our Shared Services desk. If you write me a letter and place it in the mailbox (don’t forget to fill out the contact information form, too!) I’ll sit here at my keyboard and write you a response! In about 7-10 days, you’ll get a response from me in your mailbox at home! Isn’t that fun!? You can ask me any questions you want or just draw a nice picture for me and I’ll tell you about my day! I can’t wait to hear from you!
