Ted E. Bear’s Construction Updates, Vol. 2

Youth - What's New | Published October 15, 2026

Hi again, everyone! It’s your favorite library renovation buddy, Ted E. Bear!

Have you been hearing a lot of construction sounds at the library lately? Look at what’s been happening in the Youth room! There’s a whole hallway now where there used to be a wall. It’s right next to the room where we kept our shelving carts. (I used to call that room The Cave, but I’m a bear, so I’m partial to a good napping cave.)

An empty hallway with white cinder block and beige brick is lit by a single bright construction light. Wires and ducts hang from the ceiling, temporarily unfinished.

Did you know there are all sorts of books about construction at the library? You might already be familiar with diggers and dozers and other heavy duty vehicles, but there are also plenty of books about tools! Next time you are here, take a look at one and see if you can guess which kinds of tools are making the sounds you are hearing! Here’s a list of some books about construction workers and the tools they use:

Tools Rule!

I Love Tools!

The Power Tool Alphabet

Construction Worker Tools

Tools at Work series

Anyway, I’m so happy to have heard from some of you this month. For those of you who haven’t already, there’s still time to participate in our Letters to Ted program—just write me a letter or draw me a cool picture. Then, you just have to attach a completed contact info form (ask a librarian) and pop them into the big blue mailbox at the Shared Service desk. I’ll write you back and you’ll get the letter right in your mailbox at home!

I’m looking forward to giving you a new update soon! In the meantime, here are a few familiar friends who miss you all just as much as I do:
