Hey, everyone! It’s your friendly library mascot, Ted E. Bear, here to tell you a little bit about the changes you’re going to see soon in your favorite place to discover!
At the end of August, the library is going to close for just a little bit so that we can move some things around, and when you come back to visit, things will look very different! Here’s what you might experience during the construction period:
- There might be new walls where there used to NOT be walls!
- Your favorite books might be in a very different place
- You might hear some loud sounds that might be surprising to hear in a library, and maybe even smell some strange smells!
- Our café might not be available (but the snack machines are just down the hall)!
- There might not be many places to play or just hang out for a little while
- You will DEFINITELY still see your favorite librarians, and they DEFINITELY will still want to help you find your favorite stories!
All of this might make you say, “Ted, this all sounds scary and strange! It feels weird when things change!” That’s OK! It does feel weird to have things suddenly be different, but I think it will be worth it when we see all the fun new ways the library will look and feel when it’s all done! Here’s what we are looking forward to:
- A new location for the Teen department so that families can enjoy the library in a way that works better for them
- New spaces to study, relax, read, and more
- New paint and carpet for a fresh, clean look
- New furniture that helps people do what they need to do in the library
- Better ways to organize books and other materials to make them easier to find
Remember, you can always ask your favorite librarian about what’s going on. In October, I’m even going to be available as a pen pal! That’s right! You will be able to write a letter to me and I’ll answer any questions you have—whether it’s about changes in the library, or what a bear’s favorite foods are (mine are berries and fish)!
See you soon!
Love, Ted E. Bear
