If you’ve visited the Youth Services World Languages collection in the last few weeks, you may notice things seem a little different. Pardon our dust, please, because good things are coming!
We hope that you will bear with us while language items are being shifted and cataloged in a new way, because we are expecting the end result to be more helpful and useful for all. First, the items will be relabeled in our system and laid out on the shelves using a similar method to the way in which Youth Holiday materials are organized. That means that each book within a language will be easier to find because it will be grouped with similar items. The languages themselves will be alphabetized, so that they are easier to find, too. We are hoping the new layout will be more intuitive, as opposed to the way it has been done through the Dewey Decimal System in the past.
After all the books we have are relabeled and reorganized, it will be time to order more books! A big thanks to everyone who filled out our World Language materials survey last Fall, because your input is most definitely being considered as we do our best to build the collection to better mirror what our community needs!
